LAP STUDENTS

There are often students at all levels of schooling and of all ages who would benefit from individual time with a caring volunteer. Students may be involved in a wide range of activities and all individual programmes are planned in consultation with teaching staff. Students enjoy using computer programmes, planting a garden, playing chess, reading books, working on maths challenges, talking and listening, working on class activities, improving their spelling, organising homework and setting achievable goals.

ANY STUDENT WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM INDIVIDUAL TIME WITH A CARING VOLUNTEER CAN PARTICIPATE IN LAP.

Students who would benefit from involvement in LAP include:

 • Benefit from a mentor - someone other than a teacher or parent to support them academically and personally

 • Need help and encouragement with class work

 • Have an interest or talent to be developed

 • Be shy or disruptive

 • Be experiencing difficulties with learning

 • Need someone to listen and to show they care
